How To Fix Xbox 360 VGA Washed Out Colours Looks On PC Monitor

If you have an spare PC monitor laying around your house and have an Xbox 360 console and would like to watch movies and play games in high definition quality and dont have the money to buy a large HD ready plasma screen television, you can use your PC monitor to display HD content from the console. This is by creating or buying a VGA cable for the console to connect it to the male VGA on the rear of the PC monitor. Using this method is not the best, as it creates washed out colors to be displayed on the screen and this will affect the quality of the graphics, as they will look plain and not vibrant and bright they way they should look. Therefore,  i do recommend you to use the DVI method, as this is far better than using VGA, as the colors are not so washed out. But if your monitor only has a VGA connection then you have no choice and have to stick with the washed out colors, unless you upgrade your display, but i have some solutions on how to retrieve the depth in the colors that you will be happy with.

1) Go to the display settings that controls the amount of color displayed on the TV settings. While a movie or game is displayed, increase the amount of color, this will add more depth and will make the color appear stronger. So do have a play around different amounts, until you have found the sweet spot. Sometimes the color setting on the TV can be setup to low, which could be the answer why the colors look washed out and plain, as increasing boosts the quantity.

2) Also if you play your console offline, chances are that it doesnt have the latest firmware update applied onto the console. The old firmware update provided poor picture quality if using VGA, as you will see on many forums. So connect your Xbox to the internet and the console will automatically download and install the latest software update. However, if you dont have the Ethernet cable to connect the console to your router, or you Xbox 360 is banned from using Xbox live and you cant sign in, then as an alternative route, you can download the update from the Microsoft website, copy it to an usb drive or burn it to an CD.

3) If you are not using an official Microsoft branded VGA cable and are using a cheap third party copy or have made your own, then you will not gain a quality looking display. This is because they have not been approved by Microsoft engineers and have not been tested. Cheap cables, use cheap components and wiring, as most people that have used them have experience washed out colors and have switched to the official product and there problem was solved.

4 ) Also make sure that the reference level, which is found in the Xbox 360s dashboard settings menu is set to expanded, as there is an possibility that it is currently set to standard. Expanded provides a greater depth of colors and makes them feel more bright, if compared with the standard setting.

How To Fix a DC AC adapter That is Overheating

If you are using your electronic device continuously, the DC/AC adapter will generate excessive heat very quickly. If this is the situation with your adapter, it can cause overheating issues and decrease the life span of it. Not only that, it is also a fire risk. Power supply adapters that are overheating get damaged quicker. This is because the excessive built up heat trapped inside melts down the electrical transistor components. If your AC adapter is too hot to touch, it is a symptom that it is suffering from overheating.

1) Ensure the surroundings around the adapter is placed in a none cluttered environment. An cluttered environment around the adapter can promote heat to built up quickly. So ensure that your adapter is placed freely away from other adapters and wiring.

2) Choose a cool location to place the adapter in. If the room temperature is very warm, the adapter will overheat quicker. Turn down the heating inside the room and open a window to reduce room temperatures.

3) Obtain a computer fan and attach it directly onto the adapter. The computer fan will force cool air onto the power brick. This will help bring down internal temperatures and reduce possibilities of overheating issues to develop. You can run a computer fan from a 9 volt square battery or an external mobile phone adapter.

How To Fix a TomTom SatNav Thats Not Charging In Car

A TomTom is a great gadget that is a must if you want to get to your detestation, without using a physical paper map. All TomTom models will have an internal battery pack that holds an electrical charge. When you dont connect your car charger to it, the sat nav then obtains its power from the internal battery pack. The power that the battery pack can store is sufficient enough for local trips. If you are planning on going on long distance journeys, it is essential to plug it into your car cigarette charger socket. This will provide constant power to the car sat nav and will no longer rely on the battery packs power. If the green charging light on your TomTom is not lighting up, it is a symptom that it is not charging. You want to find a solution to this problem before you set off or you will eventually have a dead sat nav.

1) Ensure that the USB lead is connected both firmly into the sat nav and car cigarette lighter socket. Loose connections are likely to cause charging problems. If either connectors are loose, the pins inside will not connect properly to their sockets, causing a bad connection.

2) The charging lead could be faulty. If you notice that when you move the wire around, the TomTom charges sometimes and sometimes not, it is probably the cause to the problem. So wiggle the connectors to see if you can get it charging. If you can, then replace the existing cable with a brand new original replacement.

3) Check if the USB adapter is working. Some newer models of the TomTom GPS sat nav come supplied with a USB adapter. Sometimes the pins inside the USB socket you connect the charger plug into can become bent or broken. Look inside the USB socket, you will see four metal pins. If you see any bent pins, straighten them out with a flat head screwdriver. If any pins seem to be broken off, there nothing you can do. You will have to purchase a brand new replacement adapter.

4) The metal pins inside the charging socket could be dirty. It is possible that dust and dirt have contaminated the pins from every day use. When this happens, the metal pins cant get a good electrical connection with there sockets. So obtain a cotton swab and give all sockets a quick clean. Then reconnect everything and see if the device now charges up successfully.

5) Replace the battery pack. If the battery pack is getting charged up, but it is not holding charge long enough, it is faulty. This can happen if you have used up the maximum charges the battery pack can hold or it is damaged from overcharging. You will need to open up your TomTom sat nav to replace the battery pack. No soldering is required, you simply unplug the old battery pack and replug the new one. You can do it yourself at home or send it in for a repair.
